Croatia's cities and its European twins
Posted by: ConnectoTravel.com
If you visit for example France, simply because of its size and different geography, you can enjoy in many different things: castles by river Rhone, skiing in Chamonix, vineyards of Bordeaux, beaches in Nice and of course, the architecture and lifestyle of Paris. Considering the fact that the total surface of France is about 6 times the total surface of Croatia, France cannot even be compared to this small country. Or can it?
Perhaps Croatia isn't large by size or it didn't have that big of an influence during the past in comparison to France, but Croatia is, however small, a country so exquisite and unique that its importance and place on the tourist map of the world is brighter each year. If you decide to visit Austria, you know what kind of tours and sites you can expect. Incredible architecture of Vienna, skiing resorts in the area of Salzburg, beautiful lakes and hills wherever you look.
If you decide to visit Italy, the first thing that comes to mind is Toscana and its vineyards that go for miles. Spain will remind you of hot summers and great beaches, but what about Croatia? Sure, you might also think of the Adriatic Sea and great beaches, but Croatia is so much more than that. Since Croatia has achieved a certain increase in popularity in the last decade, we will give you the benefit of a doubt and presume that you already know something about this beautiful Mediterranean and Central European country on the Balkan peninsula. But to make sure you get the true impression, we will compare cities in Croatia to famous cities in Europe, so that the next time you decide to visit Croatia, you know exactly what to expect.
Toscana vs. Istria We will start with typical Mediterranean surroundings, since it is usually the most wanted type of holidays on the Adriatic Sea. Toscana is a world famous wine region in Italy, but since Croatia is only on the other side of the same sea, you can presume that the climate is the same. The architecture and even the people are almost the same. Istria is a peninsula located in the north part of the Adriatic Sea and is therefore somewhat different than Toscana which is situated more to the south. But we have an answer to that too: simply visit peninsula of Pelješac in the south, and the effect will be exactly the same.
Ibiza vs. Pag Even though there are other party places in Croatia, nothing beats the island of Pag in the region of Zadar. The island Pag, Novalja and its famous beach Zrce are your perfect party destination which never sleeps. You can enjoy partying on the beach during the day and losing yourself on the dancefloor during the night. Clubs Papaya, Kalypso and many more are just waiting for you to dance the summer away.
Prague vs. Zagreb The famous European cities of Prague, Budapest and even the cities in Austria are very much like Zagreb. Sure, they are larger by size, but they have exactly the same architecture and lifestyle like the capital of Croatia. Zagreb is a city whose architecture was heavily influenced by the Austrian and Hungarian Empire so that even today when you walk through Zagreb, you will feel the Central European spirit wherever you look. Other smaller cities in Croatia like Rijeka and Varazdin will be other great examples of Austrian influence in Croatia.
Carcassonne vs. Dubrovnik One of the most beautiful cities in the south of France is without a doubt Carcassonne, a fortified city of unique beauty. But Dubrovnik in Croatia is equally beautiful and perhaps even more attractive because of its location directly by the sea. Enjoy in its stone paved streets, forts and fortresses surrounding the city and its walls, and visit probably the most beautiful city in Croatia. Both fortified cities, Carcassonne and Dubrovnik will take your breath away.
Greece vs. Islands and hinterland of Dalmatia Olive trees, the smell of the sea or pine forest, great cheese, roasted lamb, healthy food and wine, all this is Greece. But all this is also Croatia. If you visit Croatian islands in the region of Dalmatia, you will feel this typical Mediterranean ambiance usually related to famous neighbours- Italy and Greece. But the islands of Vis, Lastovo, Brac, Hvar, Solta or villages on the mainland near cities of Split, Sinj, Omis, Makarska, they all have exactly the same features, so make sure you visit them during your trip to Croatia. Enjoy especially in the great hospitality of Croatian people who are Croatia's best marketing campaign.
