What To Do On Holidays Outside The Season?

Posted by: ConnectoTravel.com

The first thing that comes to mind when you think of holidays is summer, sea, beach, doing pretty much nothing, right? So, by that logic, one doesn't have much to do on holidays (in Croatia) outside the season. Wrong.

You don't have to be a part of a group of 60-something folks in a bus with a tour guide to enjoy holidays in Croatia during spring, autumn or even winter. Of course, each season has its own, but most of these things can be done no matter the time of the year. Rain or snow could stop you though, but not more than the sizzling sun in August.

1. Visit the monuments: You will be surprised how interesting a cultural heritage can be, not to mention the architecture. Choose among many UNESCO monuments, centuries old churches, ancient stone walls or just walk the paved streets of beautiful Croatian towns like Split, Dubrovnik, Trogir, Rovinj, Pula...They all seem alike, but each is a story to itself.

2. Sail: There is more to sea than swimming and diving (which can also be done outside the season). Rent a boat and find a great skipper to take you from Istria to the islands in the south of Croatia. Explore the coves, fight the winds and come back in summer to visit it from the inside.

3. Climb: One of great things about the Adriatic Coast is the nearness of the sea and the mountains. You can rent an accommodation almost anywhere down the coast and still be able to go trekking and hiking in the nature, since the mountains like Biokovo and Velebit practically end in the sea.

4. Sleep: It's not the sleeping that is important here but the waking-up. You might think that your body doesn't know where it is while you're unconscious, but the smell and the sounds of the sea, the quiet streets of old towns will make all the difference when you open your eyes.

5. Explore: Do something else every day that you wouldn't do at home. Try new sports, visit galleries, cook Croatian recipes, learn Croatian words and sing Croatian songs. Just make sure that when you get back home, you remember your holidays in Croatia the rest of the year.
